All the fun that was
These images were taken through the windows of a disused Woolworth’s store in Wildwood, New Jersey. I learned that the shop belonged to an old man who collected redundant fairground attractions from the Wildwood boardwalk with a view to restoring them.
I was attracted to the storefront primarily because I remembered many of the attractions from my childhood when I spent my summers at the seashore. Secondly, I soon realised that the scene was a treasure trove of photographic possibilities.
The Royal Photography Society’s Contemporary Group accepted four of these photographs for its exhibition Stilled Life. The exhibition is currently touring around Great Britain.
